Barcamp in Memphis (#BCMEM)
This is the eve of Barcamp Memphis. I am following the hashtag #bcmem and hoping to see a taste of what is going to be shared at this community gathering of tech and web geeks.
My fist experience of a barcamp, was last years Barcamp Memphis. The energy of everyone sharing was truly a noticeable action at each small group, that I attended. The topics ranged wide, but I was most excited to see other web geeks like me interested in streaming video.
This Year I hope to learn more about the mobile applications of both Android and Apple phones and tablets. The online sources I follow, ReelSEO and Mashable, continually share articles on the rise of mobile streaming video, both as a user seeking their topics of interest and the publisher seeking to expose their content,… with great hopes of their content becoming viral.
I have been active for years streaming live content online, and in the near future I plan to take full advantage of all the free-outsource available from social media sites like Ustream, JustinTV, and LivdeStream. My spiritual adviser just showed me that some Catholic Media Companies are offering free hosting of HD video for parishes, dioceses, and organizations looking for ways to reach-out to their local market, as well as reach out to the wide-open digital-sea.
There is going to be a group at the barcamp, sharing on some great topics. The name of the group is Lokion, which is local here to the Greater Memphis/ Mid-south area. Check out this quick list, and if your interested go check out their website.
- Smart / Responsive Mobile Design
- Mobile Audience Research: Sometimes You’ve Just Gotta Be There
- Mobile Usability Testing: Hands-on Demo Session
- ThinkFactory: Gamestorming to Break Through Design Challenges

I will try to Tweet, post to Facebook Linkedin and Google+, as much as I can. I hope to share good insights and resources will all my blog followers and social media friends. The growing actions of sharing piety and study is becoming more and more of a vision for parishes, diocese, and organization. The New Evangelization a positive movement of suitable instruments and ideas, that will help us and our brothers and sisters, in our journey of faith, hope and charity.
If you don’t really know what a BARCAMP is, just go search for it and place the closest major city in the search with it. Go SEE, what is going on in your local community of techs and geeks.
Peace, out…

Barcamps are all over the U.S. now. Really wish there was a traveling version for Catholics, based on the New Evangelization.
